ENGRAVING

WORKSHOP

After a little introduction to this beautiful and diverse stone, you will learn how to engrave slate. You can choose your favorite design from a box of stamps or draw on your own as you apply the engraving technique onto your first handmade slate coaster.

DOTS.SLATE

Slate has some beautiful qualities to show off with, one of them being the smooth surface presenting a perfect underground for artistic works. With the help of the very relaxing pointillism technique, you can achieve wonderful artworks. While the decorated slate is drying, another highlight awaits you.

As a family, after a short, adapted tour for young and old, we discover the slate museum Haut-Martelange. Together we descend into the underground gallery (-15 m) and get to know the path the slate stone took from its place of extraction to the finished product.

AIRBRUSH
WORKSHOP

Here you learn about slate and its properties. We also teach you how to split and cut the roofing slate. We teach you the basics so that everyone can cut their own roofing slate themselves. Then the technique of airbrush is applied to the cut stone.

Discover the slate museum based on your detective skills. Help Schuppi solve the puzzle with the help of various keys and other objects and learn more about slate mining and the work here in Haut-Martelange.

SCHUPPI'S FAMILY

DAY

Every Wednesday during the summer holidays you can spend an exciting day on the "Leekoll" (the area on which the museum is situated). You get to visit the underground pits and a "Leekëppert's" packed lunch provides the necessary refreshment before you can work on the slate stone yourself.
