Every last Sunday of the month, the “Friends of the Slate” take over the Museum and serve you at the ancient’s café (COVID-CHECK): The ancient’s café is a bar kept in the typical traditional old style, installed by the “Friends of the Slate” and "Services des Sites et Monuments", and is still representing a part of the old Luxembourgish culture.
Within this concept, the “Friends of the Slate” await you at the ancient’s café with homemade cakes and other culinary specialties:
On 31st October, the last open weekend of the year, the Museum will be kept under the topic of the "Grujeleg Leekoll" (scary slate quarry) and so te "Friends of the SLate" will decorate their ancient's café under the theme of Halloween and will serve the food and drinks accordingly.
The association’s blacksmith and roofer are at work and show you their handcrafts. Also, former quarrymen will be at the café and answer you questions about their work and their life as quarryman. Certainly, also some funny anecdotes will find their way during the day!
Take part in our complete guided tour of the Museum starting at 10:30AM or participate in one of the Slate Quarry Horror-Tours, first one starting at 02:00PM (WIll take place only in luxembourgish language). (reservation required!)
