Christmas Market 2026 at the Slate Museum

On 27 and 28 November 2026, experience the festive atmosphere of Christmas in the exceptional setting of the former slate quarries of Haut-Martelange, Luxembourg!

Organised by the Friends of Slate (Amis de l’Ardoise), the Christmas Market at the Slate Museum invites you to enjoy a festive outing with family and friends, surrounded by the historic buildings of Luxembourg's industrial heritage.

Over 70 exhibitors, artisans and local producers

Explore more than 70 stalls set among the former slate quarry buildings, bringing together craftspeople, artists, local producers and community associations.

Discover handmade jewellery, Christmas decorations, wooden, slate, ceramic and glass creations, artisan candles, textiles, natural cosmetics, books and plenty of original gift ideas.

It's a wonderful opportunity to meet the makers, discover their craftsmanship and find something special for your Christmas shopping.

Delicious food and festive treats

Local associations and food stalls will be serving a wide variety of specialities, including raclette, cheese fondue, grilled dishes, smoked fish, soups, waffles, homemade cakes and much more.

Warm drinks and seasonal treats make it easy to relax and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the market.

Music, craftsmanship and heritage

Festive lights and Christmas melodies create a special atmosphere throughout the historic industrial buildings.

Live concerts and blacksmith demonstrations add to the programme, offering a chance to discover traditional skills and the museum's industrial past.

And why not explore the hidden world beneath your feet?

The Johanna underground slate mine, 42 metres below ground, will remain accessible into the evening, with the last descent at 9:00 pm on both days (separate admission fee, minimum age 4).

Getting here and free shuttle buses

To make your visit easier, free shuttle buses will connect several nearby villages and parking areas.

• Friday: 6:30 pm – 11:30 pm

• Saturday: 3:30 pm – 11:30 pm

Shuttle stops: Perlé (Cultural Centre, former school/church, railway station), Wolwelange (cemetery), Haut-Martelange (Leekoll), Rombach-Martelange and Martelange (former railway station, TEC car park).

The museum can also be reached by public transport via RGTR bus route 901, stopping at Haut-Martelange Leekoll.
