About the event
During this family-friendly activity, young explorers are invited to step into the fascinating world of slate. From its natural formation to its extraction and transformation into a finished product, the story of this iconic material is brought to life in a fun, engaging and accessible way.
Following in the footsteps of former slate workers, children go 42 metres underground on a guided tour specially designed for families, discovering the underground Johanna slate quarry.
The adventure then continues in the activity areas, where creativity takes centre stage. Each child shapes their own slate medallion and takes home a personal keepsake — a lasting reminder of a unique underground family experience.
