Étienne Lenoir’s engine comes back to life at the Slate Museum!
As part of the European Heritage Days, on 17 & 18 October the Slate Museum will showcase an exceptional piece of engineering history: a working reconstruction of the gas engine developed by Étienne Lenoir, a pioneer of the internal combustion engine and a forerunner of the modern automobile.
And the highlight: you’ll be able to see and hear the engine running!
Throughout the weekend, Haut-Martelange’s industrial heritage will come alive:
⚙️ Live demonstrations of Étienne Lenoir’s engine
🚂 Industrial train rides from 1 to 5 pm
🔥 Blacksmithing demonstrations
⛏️ Slate splitting and cutting demonstrations every hour from 1 to 5 pm
🎶 Sunday: concerts by the Estro Armonico Orchestra at 2:30 and 3:45 pm
☕ The BopeBistro will also be open – perfect for a relaxing break during your visit.
